House Rules and Disclaimers

These are the house rules for each event we host. You will be provided with the house rules and registration form upon entry that you must read and sign before we will provide you with repair services

  1. The work carried out in the Repair Café is performed free of charge on a voluntary basis
by the repair experts at hand. Visitors are expected to remain with the volunteer repairer
while the repair is being carried out.

  2. The fact that the repairs are being performed by unpaid volunteers reflects the allocation
of risks and limitation of liability. Neither the organizers of the Repair Café nor the
volunteer repairers are liable for any loss that may result from advice or instructions
concerning repairs, for the loss of items handed over for repair, for indirect or
consequential loss or for any other kind of loss resulting from work performed in the
Repair Café.

  3. A voluntary donation is greatly appreciated. Any donations will be used to cover Repair
Café operating costs.

  4. Parts or supplies, such as leads, plugs, fuses, zips, etc. may be needed to fully complete
a repair. Visitors may need to provide them. Where possible, advice will be given on
what is required.

  5. Volunteer repairers offer no guarantee for the repairs carried out with their help and are
not liable if objects that are repaired in the Repair Café turn out not to work properly at
home.

  6. Volunteer repairers are entitled to refuse to repair certain objects.

  7. Volunteer repairers are not obliged to reassemble disassembled appliances that cannot
be repaired.

  8. Visitors to Repair Café are solely responsible for the tidy removal of broken objects that
could not be repaired.

  9. To cut down on unnecessary waiting times during busy periods, a maximum of ONE
broken item per person will be examined. The visitor will join the back of the queue if
there is a second item for repair.

  10. Parents must exercise control over, and be responsible for, their children while attending
the Repair Café. Potentially dangerous tools and equipment are present in the repair
zone.

  11. Volunteers and visitors consent to photographs/video taken at Repair Café being used
for promotional purposes. Please make it clear to volunteers if you do not consent to
photos/videos being used in this way.
